As the 360 Power Series heads into the final few rounds it's crunch time for alot of the contenders wanting to win the series.
Who are the contenders for next weekend at the Perth Motorplex round six? Cale Sotiroff the young Mark Wells protégé currently sits on top of the series board and his driving style and level head has earned him that right. If the car isn't right Sotiroff will make sure he finishes in the best position to gain points instead of sitting on the infield watching the lead slip away.
Another young charger is Trent Pigdon who has blasted onto the sprintcar stage this season in what can only be described as an amazing debut, racing both a 360 and open sprintcar Pigdon has shown he is a very capable driver in both divisions picking up a number of podium finishes recently and it's only a matter of time before he cracks an A main win.
Mr consistent Chris Ackland is always at the pointy end of the field and he is getting himself primed for a full assault on the Aussie title in March in South Australia so expect a top three result.
Previous round winner Daniel Hawkins is a dynamic racer that looks after his equipment and doesn't make many mistakes and he knows how to win. JB or Jason Boland hasn't had the best of runs so far but having said that his equipment is good and on the right night can mix it with anyone.
Jodi Waldron a 360 Sprintcar driver thru and thru a nice bloke who has a quick car and he has had some podiums so far in the series including third in the state title. Watch out for the green No68.
The Kalgoorlie connection of Troy Anderson, Jim Ahchee and Dean Terry travel each round to whatever town the series races at and all three and racing well so Kalgoorlie has a good chance of a podium.
The Watson team have one of the fastest cars on the circuit and the Ford power plant on this track will make for exciting viewing so if young Rib is on his game sparks will fly and Watson could take the win.
The progress of End 2 end motorsports this season has been exceptional with a four car team driven by Billy Stocks, Tim Gardner, Rob Willis, and Wade Randall the inexperienced team are developing very well with Stocks sitting in the top four of the series points. Steve Adley has improved out of sight as the season has progressed and as we head into season two I expect him to be challenging for race wins.
Whilst I have waited till last to mention this guy, he is his first ever season of racing of any type, he is thoroughly enjoying himself and that is what we want from Domenic Maiolo this season. Dom hasn't missed a show and he is always there at the end and gives him some time and he will move up the field. |
