Marty Chamberlain Cup
It was an amazing finish to round six of the Chamberlain Auto Electrics 360 Sprintcar Power series doubling as the Marty Chamberlain Silver Cup. Chris Ackland drove under Dean Terry for the win on the final corner before crossing the line in front of a huge crowd at the Perth Motorplex tonight. “Any race is good to win,” Ackland said. “Thanks to Rick, who works tirelessly on that race car…that was a good race.” Terry hung on for second which was a fantastic result and just reward for the long haul from Kalgoorlie. “That is my third race in a Sprintcar in a big field and that was awesome,” Terry said. Cale Sotiroff drove his butt off to get third place and kept his Power Series points lead intact. “On that restart I thought I was in really, really big trouble,” Sotiroff said. “It’s bloody awesome fun around here you just have to commit and run around the highline around here.” Whilst that was the podium result the rest of the field were also changing places right up till the chequers with Jodi Waldron sliding backwards across the line as he got past Troy Anderson who had a tremendous night finishing in fifth. Daniel Hawkins ended with a good results in sixth after missing his second heat due to an entire rear end replacement after a breakage in heat one after he had won the heat. Billy Stocks continued his good points haul that improved his standing by one and he now sits in third overall after his seventh place. Steve Adley probably had the best run through the heats of the entire season with third and fourth but come feature time he couldn't replicate the speed he had in the heats and had to settle for eighth. Two of the End2end Motorsport drivers Rob Willis and Wade Randall traded places with each other and also Kalgoorlie driver Jim Ahchee during the last few laps and it was Willis that won the battle ahead of team car Randall and Ahchee finished 11th after really struggling with car setup all night. Cars that didn't finish the feature were Dominic Maiolo with a mechanical issue, Jason Boland who suffered with an engine issue all night and Jake Beard Miller who would have left the Perth Motorplex gutted after what had the potential to be a blaster of a night for him ended with the young charger on the infield.
