SAWA Awards night ends season.

The 2013/14 SAWA season came to an end last Saturday night with the annual awards evening.

Brooke Tatnell and Chris Ackland were recognized for their respective victories in the open and 360 state championships earlier in the season before Shaun Bradford was announced as the driver to have recorded the fastest lap of the season.

Jamie Maiolo once again claimed the feature race points for the open division but it was Luke Dillon who recorded the most open feature race victories. Dean Terry won the 360 feature points while Trent Pigdon had the most 360 feature wins with just two, showing how hard fought the 360 division is and how hard it is to get a feature victory.

Shaun Bradford and Aldo De Paioli were announced next as the drivers with the most potential while Daniel Harding was a deserving winner of the Most Improved trophy.

Ryan Lancaster and Corey Hunter won the Encouragement awards while Jason Pryde won the coveted Rookie of the Year Trophy after a fantastic first season. There were no surprises when Jason Kendrick was awarded the King of Crash after a season that saw him have some spectacular roll overs. Kye Scroop claimed the Hard Luck Award  while the Miller Race team took out the best presented crew. Jason Pryde then made his way back up to the podium to claim his best presented car award.

Cameron Gessner was the winner of the open sprintcar Bonza Bradford Memorial trophy for highest points across the season in all events while Dean Terry claimed the 360 version. Jason Kendrick and Jamie Maiolo rounded out the opens podium while Chris Ackland and Steven Ford did the same for the 360 division.

Dean Terry was then awarded his trophy for winning the MMS Civil 360 Sprintcar Power Series ahead of Chris Ackland and Steven Ford.

The night was then rounded out by two Southern Thunder Series Awards, with Brodie Minchin winning the Encouragement Award for the driver that has attended all four rounds of the series, who hasn't necessarily been outstanding but has tried their best, while Kye Scroop received the Future Star Award for the driver who has attended all four rounds, and has been consistent across the series in the time trials, heats, not only features.

With the awards night now over, the 2013/14 SAWA season has also come to a close. Thank you to all the drivers, their teams, the officials and the fans for their support this year and we look forward to seeing you again next season!
